An Important Warning

Carl Trueman's latest over at Ref21 is a timely warning about the dangers of personality cults within the church. Specifically, Trueman warns those of us who are among the "Young, Restless, and Reformed" crowd to watch out for this tendency. Check it out HERE.

Thanks for posting this Todd. I confess to a mild Piper worship myself. I appreciate you pointing us to great resources for our sanctification, but one thing that bugs me about Christian blogs is the endless hawking of new books, all of which are "the best" and are "must reads." Trueman alludes to this in the sixth paragraph down (starts with "The supply side economics"). One wonders how those among the great cloud of witnesses managed to get by without these marvelous tomes. I guess they had to make due with the church fathers, Luther, Calvin, and Spurgeon. I give Justin Taylor a break here because he works for a publishing house, but I still feel like some posts should have a big "now a word from our sponsor" disclaimer. On the other hand, this sentiment probably stems from guilt over the huge pile of unread books beside my bed. : )

Mark,

No doubt that there has been a flood of good books over the last ten years. This has been a result of the expanding market for solid theological instruction from a reformed persepective. That's a good thing but I can certainly see how overwhelming it can be when every book is a 'must read'. When everything is "great" then nothing is great.

On a related note, if you could help me find a way to get a percentage from Crossay and P&R for all their books I recommend...
