Jesus gave His life against the forces of injustice? I thought it was for the forgiveness of sin and to satisfy the wrath of God against our sin. Am I wrong?
This is typical emergent theology which is nothing more than the latest incarnation of old liberalism. The cross is not the atonement for sins. There is no substitution because there is no wrath poured out or righteousness imputed.
The cross is reduced to a moral example against the world's injustices. What is lost is the gospel itself.
This proves that emergent theology is not new at all. Read Machen's Christianity and Liberalism. If you didn't know better you'd think it was written last month as a refutation of the emergent church.
It's a serious thing when we misrepresent the cross.
A native of Houston, Texas, Todd served as youth pastor in churches in Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

Following a call to the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), Todd became the Lead Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg, VA in August of 2013.
He is a graduate of Southwest Baptist University and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Todd and his wife, Karen, have been married since 1990 and have three children: Kate, Ryan, and Matthew.
"Therefore the Christ who is grasped by faith and who lives in the heart is the true Christian righteousness, on account of which God counts us righteous and grants us eternal life."
Martin Luther
"The Gospel is sheer good tidings, not demand but promise, not duty but gift."
