My sense is that the film's director was trying to make a statement about the spiritual condition of our "real" lives vs. the lives we show to others in a church setting. However, it makes me ask the question, how has the current church model contributed to this? I think a lot of people will view this as condemnation of the dad (rightly or wrongly), or perhaps a general statement about the people that show up at our churches. I view it as a statement of the church culture we have created...that all of us are responsible for...hence the next generation's almost rabid search for authenticity and a deeper spirituality.
all too true...
